Wouldn’t it be great if you knew how to identify and take actions that are in harmony with your desires? We all know that acting in alignment with the desired state is key to success. These actions can be huge, or they can be small but impactful. Neville Goddard stands in the pantheon of modern-day mystics and manifestation experts. His ” live in the end ” technique is not a modern invention – this mystical application of the human imagination is interwoven in the very fabric of biblical parables. A super-powerful practice that will help you engineer an inner state that corresponds with your desire. Successfully applying the “live In end ” technique literally compels the universe to objectify your imaginal state.
Today, let’s delve into Neville Goddard‘s “Barbados story” a real-life account that has almost cult status amongst truth seekers. It’s a story that also introduces Neville’s mysterious mentor, the great mystic Abdullah. A marvellous account where we get deeper insight into the man who taught Neville Goddard the law. We see Abdullah demonstrate the most fantastic lesson ever in applying this super powerful concept.

“Night after night sleep as though you are the man – the woman – that you would like to be. And then, if tomorrow does not bring it to past, it doesn’t matter. There are intervals of time between the assumption and its fulfilment. It’s like generations. So, if you dare to assume it, give it time. And then some bridge of incidents will be built for you without your conscious knowledge of it and it will lead you across that bridge to the fulfilment of your assumption in a way you do not know” Neville Goddard Neville’s Purpose Revealed.
It’s 1933 late October, America was in a deep depression, Roosevelt was President, and despite his parents visit and their heartfelt plea for him to return to Barbados and re-join the family Neville initially declined. However, right after bidding farewell to his parents an intense longing to visit Barbados overwhelmed him.
With no means, or resources to make the trip he decided to visit his mentor and friend, Abdullah. A great mystic knowledgeable in spiritual law. Abdullah‘s response to his expressed desire was simple yet profound: “YOU ARE IN BARBADOS“. This baffled Neville as he physically stood in New York. Abdullah elaborated that to manifest this journey one must fully immerse in the desired state – living in it imaginatively. By sleeping at night as if he was in Barbados and viewing the world from there – the means to achieve this physically would manifest.
This principle based on the power of imagination, suggests that our reality is shaped by where we are in imagination. Neville practised this advice, envisioning himself in Barbados, hearing tropical sounds and seeing New York from afar. Thereby embodying the lesson that “living in the end” bridges the gap between desire and manifestation. You can listen to the entire lecture in Neville’s own words: ” I Am All Imagination”
Abdulla’s Practical Lesson.
“as far as I am concerned you are already in Barbados” Abdullah The Mystic
A series of serendipitous events took place leading to Neville’s eventual manifestation. However, during the time his desire took to objectify, there were on a few occasions’ moments when Neville’s faith in this concept waned. In fact, as the final date for travel that year loomed closer and closer with no apparent sign of fulfilment, Neville would return to Abdullah to seek further reassurance and support. It’s here that Abdullah gave the most practical and powerful demonstration of living in the end.
He Slammed The Door
“He wouldn’t discuss it with me, he turned his back on me and went into his little library and slammed the door… about three times I tried to open up the discussion with my friend Ab between that moment that I first talked to him and the end.
When Neville appealed to Abdullah asking “how” the trip to Barbados would manifest, the mystics response was profoundly wise. ” You are in Barbados, and you went there first class”. By re-affirming the reality of Barbados despite the physical circumstances suggesting otherwise. In this scenario Abdullah demonstrated precisely how to live in the end.
Abdullah
Even though Neville expressed frustrations about not being close to Barbados Abdullah responded with a positive affirmation of the wish fulfilled. By confidently declaring the desired outcome as already achieved, Abdullah was embodying the state of the wish fulfilled.
He could have easily indulged in Neville’s own ruminations and anxious worries, discussing the means and the how. But he knew this would be in direct violation of a law he was trying to operate. In fact, Abdullah went one stage further, on one occasion at Abdullah apartment when Neville tried to open up the discussion he turned his back on his student, walked to his study and slammed the door in his face! He was teaching Neville that the subject of how was not up for debate, as in his own mind it was already a completed fact. In-fact Neville sums up the state of Abdullah’s state of mind perfectly:
” how could he (Abdullah) discuss with me how I am going to Barbados when I’m already in Barbados, that’s stupid to discuss how I’m going to go when I’m already in Barbados. And if I faithful to my assumption I can’t discuss the how.” Neville Goddard
The Importance of Unwavering Faith
Abdullah‘s actions indicate unwavering faith in the manifestation of the desired reality. Teaching a valuable lesson to Neville. His behaviour emphasises the importance of maintaining belief in the desired outcome and living from that state of consciousness regardless of current circumstances. Many students ask;, what does it mean to live in the end.? In this account a key point is illustrated, there is a subtle yet powerful difference between working towards a result and thinking and living from it. You see when you are “Living in the End” in your mind the desire is already yours.
The Living in the End concept serves as a fundamental pillar to Neville’s theory that Imagination creates reality– a reminder that within the realm of our consciousness, lies the boundless potential to shape our reality and manifest the life we truly desire. Neville goes on to claim that this very creative power, imagination, coalesce our time and experience in this world. It is the god written about in scripture. By assuming the feeling of the wish fulfilled and living from that state we are, consciously aligning ourselves with the creative power of god.
